NATURE'S MOOD BOARD

Hope you guys are having a great summer.

I have just come back from a family holiday to Isle of Harris and feeling so unbelievably inspired by the colours that I have seen on that trip. Nature inspires me a lot in general when I'm designing spaces, however this trip has been absolutely mind-blowing.

Where other people see beautiful scenery, I instantly see colour inspiration for mood boards and interiors haha! I have picked 5 of my favourite colour schemes that have been inspired by pictures I've taken whilst being away.

Hope you guys find this inspiring! I certainly did putting this together. Enjoy the rest of your summer!

MOOD BOARD ONE

I think these colours would work beautifully in a kitchen as a pretty radical design choice. I'm seeing burnt orange cabinets or alternatively olive green cabinets, neutral walls and yellow, green, orange and sky blue accessories as pops of colour. Alternatively, I'm also seeing olive green walls in a living room space with pops of colour through the soft furnishings and statement furniture pieces. Of course I'm also seeing somewhere a sky blue ceiling.

MOOD BOARD TWO

I think this would be perfect for a bedroom or living room scene. Inspired by the Machair on North Uist. These colours would definitely need to be warmed up with wooden furniture such as oak.

MOOD BOARD THREE

My first instincts are these colours would be amazing in a bedroom that needed to be strong, modern, clean and luxurious. Rather than seeing the stripey lighthouse and thinking of a nautical theme (eek! cliche!), I've purely taken the colours from the photograph/scenery and the feel of it rather than direct nautical reference. I can also see this working in a living room space and for this I would take the darker grey-blue colour and put this on the walls.

MOOD BOARD FOUR

I automatically see a bedroom scheme here. I would use those sandy tones on the walls and some soft furnishings and in a linen fabric. I would then take the other colours and introduce them in the soft furnishings and even the bed. I'm also seeing a sky blue ceiling. Basically, I can't get over a sky blue ceiling and now I need to put this somewhere.

MOOD BOARD FIVE

Although this was taken on a day that was overcast and slightly cold, all I see is dark, moody, soothing tones that would be absolutely stunning in a living room. I would embrace the dark colours and saturate the room with a dark colour on the walls and probably the ceiling too. I would then use different textures like linen, jute and velvets to create warmth and comfort.
