HAPPY NEW YEAR!
I did sooo much reflecting last year. Especially towards the end of the year. Not just your usual year-in-review style reflecting, but like full on deep, deep reflective work.
Don’t worry, I will get to the point and there is an interiors related outcome!

The very core of Terian Tilston Interior Design is to help create spaces for you that evoke happiness. I am so passionate about bringing more joy into other peoples lives, but what does happiness look like for me?
Actually… what does happiness look like for you? Like, full on joyful happy? In terms of my own past self reflection, I really don’t think I have delved deep enough to get the true answer to this. I used to think that happiness for me would be if I were a millionaire and then I could have a massive mansion (probably with a room just for all my dolls houses… ha!… I mean.. is that not everyone’s dream yeah? …). But why? Would having a new massive house REALLY make me genuinely happy? No! Why did I want all this?

Well… turns out what really makes me happy is being at peace, spending good time with my family, hanging out, much like we did when I was little at my granny’s house. Her home (in Trinidad) was like the family hub. Everyone would gather there and it was just a house full of love and amazing food and sooo much laughter. It wasn’t a big house, nor a fancy house, but it just worked.
I suppose this whole big house dream of mine was my way of recreating this “family hub”. As a way to bring everyone together and spend more time together, but do you really need a huge house to spend time together? Newsflash… No!
I have spent so much time over the years coveting this future fictional house and complaining about my current home that I completely lost sight of what was actually important and what I actually have. Truth is, I am so blessed and so grateful to even have a home at all. Not having a huge fancy house isn’t stopping me from spending quality time with my family.
The current layout of this house frustrates me, yes… because it doesn’t quite function how we would like it to as a family to facilitate that “family hub” vibe, but we don’t need new, big and flashy to achieve this.

Ok so at this point you’re probably thinking, isn’t this woman in the “fancy house” business? Ok bear with me for a moment, I’m getting there…
Really thinking through what genuinely makes me happy has reminded me of what I do actually have, in the here and now and how I could make that work for me to allow us to do more of what brings us joy.
The big fancy house has come off the vision board… shock horror!!! Gasp… gasp.
Why are these ramblings relevant? Well… I am not actually in the “fancy homes” industry. My passion in life is in taking the spaces you have been blessed with and making them function the very best they can for you, to allow you to feel good about being in your own surroundings and to allow you to do more of the things that bring pure joy into your life.
See… I got there in the end… Ok so I better stop rambling and actually get on with the information sharing bit...
We are taking on a small amount of new clients for 2025...
In 2024 we helped to create a lot of beautiful spaces and we would love to help create some for you. There is currently a lot going on behind the scenes (including me moving my studio home… more on that another time) and so this year we are limiting the number of projects we take for 2025/2026. Once we are booked up we will move to a waiting list system.

We would absolutely love to work with you to create something absolutely fabulous, so if you are needing some design advice (through our consultation service) or full designs for a home or commercial reno, please please do get in touch for a chat about how we can help and let’s get you booked in in advance.
Wishing you guys the very, very best 2025 full of love and blessings.
P.s. What does make you happy?? I would love to know!!!
Lots of love,
Terian
