HAPPY 5TH BIRTHDAY TO US !
This month we are celebrating 5 years of Terian Tilston Interior Design! I have been looking back through the archives at all the wonderful clients I have worked with and the projects I have been entrusted with. I recently shared a reel on Instagram documenting the last 5 years. Looking back has been a bit emotional to be honest. I really have been blessed over the last 5 years.
As I am sure you can imagine, running your own business, there are extreme highs and also extreme lows and then the bits in the middle too. I have learned an unbelievable amount over the last 5 years and grown a HUGE amount, as a person, designer and entrepreneur and I hope to continually grow over the next 5 years and more.
THE PAST
As a lot of you will be aware, I started this business after experiencing a big loss in my life and had an overwhelming urge to help create safe, nurturing sanctuaries for others in pursuit of happiness for myself and others. When I started, I was working from a wee spare room in my home, and predominantly doing consultations online and e-design with clients from all over the world. It was just me, myself and I! During lockdown, things grew pretty quickly and I worked with hundreds of clients during this time, helping and guiding them through creating their own sanctuaries at home during that very stressful and uncertain time.
THE PRESENT
Fast forward 5 years down the line and we (because it’s not just me anymore) have moved into our own studio in Newport, Fife and I have the support from 2 other inspiring women helping me grow, as well as a team of insanely talented collaborators.
Creating safe, nurturing happy spaces remains (and always will remain) at the heart of what we do here at Terian Tilston Interior Design, alongside promoting authenticity and the celebration of our true selves.
THE FUTURE
My hopes and dreams for the future are to continue to create happy spaces for others and to grow the business further to the point where I have a team of other designers working alongside me who share our vision, a bigger studio and workshop for creating our own bespoke pieces and where clients can come and hang out with us (and probably eat cake…. There has to be cake!) And a van. A van would be brilliant thanks. Haha.
Most importantly… I want us to do a lot of charity work. We have started steps already to create our own charity where we would work on a pro bono basis for deserving causes to create amazing spaces for free for others in need. This has been a long term goal of mine from day 1, to be able to offer our skills voluntarily for projects, to enrich the lives of others because I truly believe the spaces around us can have a real impact on our moods and lives and how we feel about ourselves. I reaaaaallllly hope I can tell you more about this soon once I turn my brain farts into something a bit more tangible…. But it’s happening! Trust me, I am determined!
